Danny Mathews (he/him) is an associate marriage and family therapist who is passionate about providing a high quality of care in a safe setting that is rooted in empathy, compassion, and unconditional support. This allows Danny to collaborate with all kinds of individual clients, couples, and families with the goal of empowerment and encouragement to confront pain, anxiety, and depression, to repair and improve relationships, to develop self-awareness and facilitate personal discovery for achieving growth and desired change.
As a former middle school teacher in an underserved community and university professor with over fifteen years of experience in teaching and mentoring hundreds of college students, Danny understands the common struggles and stressors experienced by teenagers and young adults that allows him to help clients with a variety of conditions and personal challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance misuse, trauma, marginalization, gender identity, relationship conflict, career issues, time management, and decision making.
As someone with a lifelong physical disability, Danny is especially concerned with helping and empowering clients to address marginalization and discrimination, to create a system of support, and to advocate for inclusivity. Danny’s specialization in religion as a university professor uniquely equips him to provide counseling in all areas of religion, religious conflict, and religious trauma.
Danny lives with Wendi, his wife, in the Woodland Hills area. They have three children who are 25, 20, and 16 years of age. Danny enjoys watching Dodger and Angel baseball, riding his Piaggio Beverly scooter all over the Los Angeles area, playing fantasy and Souls games on the Playstation 5 console, and hanging out with his two cats.
